MEET THE PRINCIPAL

“Leadership is the art of getting someone else to do something you want done because he wants to do it.” A quotation by the late US President Dwight Eisenhower which is a favorite of our principal.

Ma'am Merly as is fondly called by her colleagues and subordinates is the current principal of Cupang Elementary School. Merlinda Tranate Tablan is her full name and hails from San Jose, Balanga, Bataan. She is married to Arturo S. Tablan and has three daughters namely, Anne Mikhaela, Arlinda and Aira Melissa. She is presently residing at Ma. Lourdes Subd. Cupang Proper, Balanga City. Born on the 14th of November, 1964 to the late Mr. Oscar T. Tranate Sr. and Mrs. Iluminada Millian  Tranate. Being a Scorpion, Ma’am Merly is known to be a silent worker and a serious one in whatever undertakings. She believes that a person should do his best in whatever he does in order to succeed.

Ma’am Merly is a graduate of Bachelor of Elementary Education in Tomas del Rosario College in 1985. She graduated Cum Laude and was a staffer of the college publication. She is pursuing her MA, major in Educational Management, and now on her thesis writing in Bataan Peninsula State University. She finished her high school in 1981 at Tomas del Rosario Academy. Her elementary was spent in Cataning Elementary School, Balanga, Bataan in 1977 where she graduated as one of the outstanding pupils. She earned the title of Most Behaved Pupil during her early grades.

She passed the Professional Board Examination for Teachers given on November 26, 1985 at San Fernando, Pampanga with a rate of 81.62%. She is a recipient  of achievement awards during her twenty years in teaching for coaching and winning in different district and division contests. She was a recipient of the medal for  Outstanding Teacher in Balanga Elementary School in 1992.

She has attended various seminars, workshops and trainings relative to teaching during the last twenty years and now as school administrator for the last two years whether it be school, district, division, regional, national or international level.

Ma’am Merly is also the current president of the Public Elementary School Principals Association of Balanga City and the District Field Advisor for Girl Scouts Movement in District II. She was the former secretary of the Federated PTCA in Balanga City. She is a member of the Philippine Public School Teachers Association and Bataan Public School Teachers Association.

Being a working mother, she enjoys her free time cooking, doing house chores and going out with her children. She used to be a bookworm but in her busy schedule still finds time to read or surf the net. Our principal is often asked how she can afford to be a mother to three little kids, a wife to her husband, a hardworking principal and a student in a graduate school all at the same time. She said that what is important is how you budget your time, how you prioritize, how you take care of your health and how you leave everything to the Almighty.
